EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

MISSION

“We seek to develop in every child a positive and enjoyable attitude towards school and provide the opportunity to master a readiness program for all the content areas for elementary school learning through successful experiences and self-expression within a safe, nurturing environment, and working in a collaborative partnership with students and parents”.

 PHILOSOPHY

The ECED program is based upon SESO’s belief that a school should be a center for human development.  Children are given the opportunity to make decisions about their activities in an informal structure that values curiosity and creative expression.  The learning environment provides opportunities to self-expression so that each child develops s sense of confidence self-worth.

The professional staff provides guidance and support in a loving and caring environment to ensure establishing trusting relationships that are the foundation for a child’s healthy self-concept.  The staff is committed to maintain a daycare environment that facilitates diversity, tolerance, and acceptance among children.  The staff uses daily events of their living together as opportunities to learn important life skills.

SESO’s Early Childhood Education Program prepare students to become bilingual students (English-Spanish) while exposing them to different cultures in a Puerto Rican school setting with an English Immersion Program.  Students participate and become familiar with the Puerto Rican society and its culture following a curriculum meeting Puerto Rican as well as American standards.
